Ira Treuhaft

Attorney Ira Treuhaft is a partner at Treuhaft & Zakarin Attorneys at Law, in New York, New York. As a family law attorney, Mr. Treuhaft handles cases involving divorce, domestic violence, child custody, child support, paternity, orders of protection, post-divorce disputes, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. He serves clients throughout New York City’s five boroughs, as well as in New Jersey.

Mr. Treuhaft earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Maryland and received his law degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. He holds licenses to practice law before all New York and New Jersey state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Over the course of his professional career, Mr. Treuhaft managed political campaigns in New York, New Jersey and Ohio and formed a political consulting firm. He developed his legal knowledge and experience while attending law school by interning for a judge and an attorney.

The American Institute of Family Law Attorneys named Mr. Treuhaft one of the “10 Best under 40” in his state in 2015. The same year, the National Advocates included him on its “Top 100” lawyers list.

Along with managing his family law practice, Mr. Treuhaft serves as an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is an active participant in his legal community and belongs to the American Bar Association. He served as a moot court jurist for the organization in 2016.
