Attorney Jay A. Wechsler is Of Counsel to Wingate Russotti Shapiro & Halperin, LLP, in New York, New York, where he brings a hands-on approach to the law firm’s personal injury practice.  Jay is a sharp and zealous advocate who has devoted his career to fighting for and protecting the rights of the injured. A litigator by training, Jay handles all aspects of litigation and focuses on personal injury, Labor Law, medical malpractice, and tort cases, including those arising out of auto accidents, construction accidents, plane, train, and motorcycle accidents, premises liability, slip-and-falls, firefighter injuries, product liability, and any other case where an injury was caused by someone else's negligence. Alongside a proven track record of success, Jay is committed to providing personal attention and care to his clients.  Jay serves a diverse array of clients throughout the New York City metropolitan area, Long Island and upstate New York.

After graduating with a degree in psychology from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Mr. Wechsler earned his law degree from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana. During law school, Mr. Wechsler served on the moot court board. Today, he is admitted to practice in all New York state courts; the U.S. district courts for the northern, southern, eastern and western districts of New York; and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.

Mr. Wechsler greatly enjoys sharing his legal knowledge with others. In addition to his law practice, he has written for a legal column titled “Ask the Lawyer” in the Long Island Herald. He has also written an article on firefighter law and presented at a 2013 seminar on personal injury law.

Mr. Wechsler is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, an organization committed to supporting the rights of the injured and making sure that they have full access to the civil justice system.
