Fighting against injustice for over four decades, Jeremy Heisler is a founding partner and the Co-Vice Chairman of Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, LLP, a renowned law firm with offices in the District of Columbia, New York, California, and Tennessee. While representing his clients efficiently and cost-effectively, his workload has encompassed employment and civil rights class actions involving complex multiparty and multistate litigation.
During his tenure with the firm, Mr. Heisler has been successful in handling a variety of matters involving sexual harassment; age, gender, sexual orientation and pregnancy discrimination claims; wrongful discharge; whistleblower and qui tam actions; wage and hour litigation; women’s rights; and consumer fraud. He has been extremely successful in securing millions of dollars in jury verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients against some of the largest companies in the United States. Some of his record-setting results include:
- A historic $250 million jury verdict for a class of women discriminated against based on gender
- A $99 million class-wide settlement for employees in a wage and hour claim
- A $28 million settlement for a class of managers who were denied overtime pay
Mr. Heisler graduated cum laude with his bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College in 1975. He earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School in 1979. As a law student, he served as the editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. Upon graduation, he clerked for a major appellate court in New York. Mr. Heisler is licensed in New York (1980), and is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Mr. Heisler’s successful track record in and out of the courtroom has led to his receipt of many honors and awards, including being listed among Lawdragon 500’s Leading Plaintiff Employment Lawyers and rated “Excellent” through Avvo. Furthermore, he has been the recipient of the Benchmark Litigation Award – Litigation Labor & Employment consistently since 2018.
