Attending the Boston University School of Law, Boston, he graduated with his doctorate in jurisprudence magna cum laude in 1988. While at the law school, he was recognized with the G. Joseph Tauro Scholar award, Edward F. Hennesey Scholar award and the Paul J. Liacos Scholar award. He was also appointed as the editor of the Boston University Law Review.
