John T. Lillis

As a partner at Kennedy Lillis Schmidt & English in New York City, New York, John T. Lillis offers legal advice to those who face legal difficulties across New York. He handles a wide range of practice matters, including transportation law, maritime law, international shipyard matters, insurance and reassurance law, business contracts and partnerships, and real estate litigation.

A proud alumnus of the St. John’s University School of Law, Mr. Lillis earned his Juris Doctor in 1976. Prior to his legal studies, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in honors from the State University of New York Maritime College. The same year he graduated from law school, he obtained his license to practice law in New Jersey and later expanded his credentials to New York.

After he graduated from law school, Mr. Lillis gained admission to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

With nearly five decades of experience in the law field, Mr. Lillis knows the challenges his clients face in tough legal situations and works hard to provide the relief and peace of mind they deserve.
