Joshua Silber

Josh Silber is a founding partner of Abend & Silber, PLLC, in Manhattan specializing in civil litigation with a focus on personal injury, medical malpractice and sexual abuse cases. He has obtained many substantial verdicts and settlements for his clients in nearly 30 years representing the injured in civil cases. Mr. Silber has been named to the NY “Super Lawyers” list as one of the top attorneys in New York in each year from 2011 through the current year and has been selected as among the “Top 100” in Metro New York for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.   In recognition of his experience in the field, he has been appointed as a dean of the New York State Trial Lawyer’s Institute.  He is a board member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and serves as co-chair of the Judiciary Committee.  In that role, he has served as chair of the screening panel for candidates to the New York Court of Appeals for the eleven most recent vacancies on New York's highest court. Josh has been elected as a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, an honorary organization of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars who have been selected by their peers for outstanding achievements and dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession. Mr. Silber has frequently lectured on legal ethics, personal injury, and trial practice in New York and across the country, including the New York State Judicial Institute, commonly known as "Judge School" in New York.  Josh has frequently served as "counsel to the profession" or trial counsel to other law firms and lawyers on some of the most significant cases in the New York City area.   

Josh received his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York, College of Brockport in 1993 and proudly serves on the Board of Directors of the Brockport Foundation, which oversees the investment and financial management of the college's endowment.  He has been awarded the "Hall of Heritage" award, the college's highest honor.  He received his law degree, with honors, from the University of Miami Law School in 1996. He is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey and Florida as well as the United States District Courts in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.
