He will be called upon to help shape important law and public policy in medical malpractice, draft opinion reports, submit briefs, comment and testify on legislation affecting issues of quality of care and medical liability, as well as sponsor continuing legal education and community programs in this field, all of which are intended to improve health care for all New Yorkers.

Within his legal community, Mr. Kerner maintains close affiliations with myriad legal organizations, including the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the New York City Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. Throughout his illustrious career, he has served various roles within the judiciaries he operates in, including as a court-appointed mediator for the Civil Court of the City of New York and as a special referee by various Supreme Court justices in foreclosure proceedings and guardian ad litem matters, as well as a special assistant district attorney for the New York County District Attorney’s Office.
