As a partner at Kaufmann Gildin & Robbins LLP, Kevin M. Shelley has represented franchise and commercial clients nationwide. He focuses his practice on handling cases that involve the following matters: breach of contract, franchise fraud, litigation, franchise termination, securities fraud, employment law and unfair competition.

After earning two undergraduate degrees from the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Shelley received a law degree from Villanova University School of Law. During his time there, he served as editor of the school’s law review.

With years of experience handling cases surrounding commercial law, Mr. Shelley can assist clients through every step of litigation. He begins with a deep dive into the issues, taking the time to understand a client’s goals for the case. He then aggressively advocates on the client’s behalf during trial and has been successful with a number of appeals. Mr. Shelley has worked extensively with franchise owners as well as information technology firms.

A published author, Mr. Shelley has contributed several works to several franchise law publications. He was an Associate Editor of the ABA's Franchise Law Journal from 2016 to 2022 and The Franchise Lawyer from 2011 to 2014.  He also shares his legal knowledge with others by serving as a panelist or speaker at law symposiums. Mr. Shelley is a member of the American Bar Association, the International Franchise Association and the New York State Bar Association.

Mr. Shelley is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the federal bankruptcy courts in Connecticut and New York.
