In 1975, Mr. Cary graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College.  He received a Masters of Public Administration from New York University in 1979. He earned a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1983. He has a Certificate in Employee Benefits Law from Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to law school, he was an organizer for a labor union, a union health plan and he worked for New York University where he was in charge of developing the Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives, an internationally recognized special research collection.  

As an attorney, Mr. Cary serves as counsel to many unions and employee benefit plans.  He negotiates collectve bargaining agreements, arbitrates disputes and provides advice and guidence on a wide variety of issues internal and external to unions.

He litigates on behalf of his clients in state and federal court.

For decades Mr. Cary taught labor law and related topics as an adjunct professor or assistant professor. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Association of Benefit Administrators Inc., the Federal Bar Council, the Workers Defense League Inc., the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.  He serves as the presdient of the board of directors of the Brooklyn Tech Alumni Foundation, which regularily raises over $1 million a year to promote educational excelelnce at the school.  

He is an elected fellow to the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and a member of the American Bar Foundation.
