Laurie Berke-Weiss, principal of Berke-Weiss Law PLLC, is an established and highly regarded New York attorney with over 30 years’ experience. Laurie and her firm handle a full range of employment and labor law issues, representing both employees and employers. The firm provides advice and counsel, negotiation and mediation services, as well as litigation in state court, federal court, and before governmental agencies. The firm’s clients include businesses, professional practices, non-profit organizations, as well as executives and professionals from a wide range of industries and backgrounds.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, Ms. Berke-Weiss earned a Master of Arts in industrial relations from Rutgers University. She then attended Fordham University School of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor in 1983. Admitted to practice in New York, Ms. Berke-Weiss is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Highly regarded by her peers, she has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America* and holds an AV Preeminent** rating from Martindale-Hubbell. In 2010, Ms. Berke-Weiss was given the Judge William B. Groat Alumni Award by Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
Ms. Berke-Weiss is a leader in the New York legal community. She frequently writes and lectures about employment discrimination, legal ethics and law practice management. An active participant in the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, she is a past chair of its Executive Committee and is a past president of the New York Women's Bar Association. Among her many other professional affiliations, Ms. Berke-Weiss sits on the advisory board of the New York University School of Law Center for Labor and Employment Law, and is a vice president of the Fordham Law Alumni Association.
