Attorney Lesley Ann Skillen is a partner with Getnick & Getnick LLP law firm in New York, New York. Ms. Skillen provides counsel and support to whistleblowers throughout the greater New York City metro and nationally. Since the early 1990s, Ms. Skillen has represented individuals who feel they need to expose fraud they have witnessed in the workplace or of which they otherwise have non-public knowledge. She also helps corporations that have suffered injuries or losses as the result of unscrupulous and unlawful business practices.
Ms. Skillen has more than 30 years of experience investigating and prosecuting qui tam claims under the False Claims Act and other incentive-based whistleblower programs, and she has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for taxpayers. Among her most notable successes, she helped secure a recovery of more than $750 million against a major drug manufacturer and another $251 million settlement against a leading pharmaceutical company.
A leader in her field, Ms. Skillen has also written extensively and conducted many lectures and seminars across the country on a variety of legal topics related to qui tam whistleblower and business integrity issues. She has been featured in prominent publications, such as the New York Times, the New York Law Journal and Pharmaceutical Executive magazine. She has also served as co-chair of the American Bar Association's Qui Tam Subcommittee as well as the Conference Committee of Taxpayers Against Fraud.
A 1974 graduate of Monash University in Australia, Ms. Skillen returned to her alma mater and obtained her Bachelor of Laws with honors in 1978 and her Master of Laws in 1983 from Monash Law School. The New York State Bar Association admitted her to practice in 1994, and she holds her admission to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well as the Northern District of California.
