Michael P. Roberts

Michael P. Roberts is a partner at Weitz & Luxenberg who predominantly takes on cases involving mesothelioma and asbestos exposure, and is acquainted with personal injury cases. Licensed to practice law in New York, he is admitted before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. For more than 25 years, he has consistently been providing high-quality legal services with a compassionate and graceful flair.

Mr. Roberts completed his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1983. In 1986, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Hofstra University Maurice A. Deane School of Law. Ever since then, he returned to his alma mater to teach moot trial classes to law students. He has been a part of Weitz & Luxenberg since its genesis, starting from the role of senior trial attorney to being a partner at this firm. Throughout his tenure, he has established a successful track record of verdicts and has recovered millions of dollars in settlements for his clients.  

Owing to his shrewd legal acumen, Mr. Roberts’ contribution to the overall field is acknowledged by esteemed organizations, such as The Best Lawyers of America and the Multimillion-Dollar Verdicts & Settlements Club. An active member of his legal community, he maintains memberships with many prominent associations, including the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the Jewish Lawyers Guild. 

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Roberts is passionate about giving back to the community. He dedicates time to teaching and mentoring about his practice areas and volunteers with nonprofit organizations for causes close to his cause. He is a member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, where he spends time helping law students develop adept trial skills. Furthermore, he engages with initiatives, such as the Children’s Medical Foundation, the United Jewish Appeal, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Hoops 4 Hope initiatives.
