Pamela Sloan

Pamela M. Sloan is a founding partner at Aronson Mayefsky & Sloan, LLP, in New York, New York, where she practices matrimonial and family law. Her work encompasses high-stakes custody disputes, complex equitable distribution matters, maintenance and child support litigation, prenuptial and separation agreements, contested trials and appellate advocacy, and strategic negotiation aimed at resolving emotionally and financially fraught family matters.

Across more than 40 years of practice in Manhattan, Ms. Sloan has handled a wide spectrum of family-law matters while maintaining a mindset that treats each client and case as singular. Her long tenure in the courtroom and at the negotiating table is matched by a commitment to fresh analysis rather than reliance on rote approaches, which helps her tailor strategies to the facts and priorities of individual clients.

Known for direct advocacy and exacting preparation, Ms. Sloan combines rigorous legal thinking with pragmatic creativity. Ms. Sloan’s leadership within the profession includes service as chair of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and chair of the Matrimonial Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association. She served three terms on the Judiciary Committee of the Bar Association of the City of New York, is a fellow of both the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (where she currently serves on the LGBTQ Committee), and participates in the Family Law Committee of the American Bar Association’s International Law Section. She frequently lectures to the bench and bar.

Rooted in a lifelong connection to New York – born and raised in East Flatbush, Brooklyn – Ms. Sloan remains active in community service. She serves on the boards of WHEDCo and the Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School Foundation, and lives in Westchester County. Educated at New York University (B.A., summa cum laude; J.D.), she is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut.
