An honors graduate of Hindu College of Education in Delhi, India, Ms. Malik obtained her Bachelor of Arts in political science and government in 1989. She then earned a Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law in New York in 1993. She is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey; the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Circuits; the Supreme Court for the United States; and the U.S. Tax Court.
Hailing from India, Ms. Malik is fluent in English and South-Asian languages such as Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. Over her career spanning more than 28 years, she has successfully litigated cases in the state courts, federal courts, surrogates’ courts, bankruptcy courts and immigration courts on behalf of individuals, immigrants, families, businesses, employees and famous personalities. She also has experience helping many small businesses obtain Small Business Administration (SBA) funds and grants and minority certifications during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ms. Malik frequently appears on several news channels providing expert opinions on current immigration policies and laws. She is also quoted in many prestigious publications such as the New York Law Journal, The Daily News and Mother Jones Magazine. She is an active member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Queens County Women’s Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
