Perry Weitz, a co-founding member of Weitz & Luxenberg P.C., is an attorney whose practice areas encompass mesothelioma and asbestos, defective drugs and devices, personal injury and malpractice, environmental pollution and consumer protection. Since beginning his legal career in 1985, he has dedicated himself to advocating for everyday Americans, particularly those facing dire situations with limited recourse.
Mr. Weitz’s legal journey began in New York, where he was admitted to the Bar in 1985 and subsequently to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1986. His early legal endeavors focused on aiding mesothelioma victims and challenging formidable corporations, setting a precedent for his career.
An active member of the legal community, Mr. Weitz holds positions on several prestigious boards and committees. He serves on the boards of the American Association for Justice, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, The Legal Aid Society and the Jewish Lawyer Guild. Additionally, he chairs the Tort and General Negligence sections of the New York County Lawyers Association and is a member of the American Association for Justice’s Mass Torts Committee.
Mr. Weitz’s contributions to the field of law have not gone unnoticed. He has been consistently recognized as one of New York Magazine’s Best Lawyers. He has been a recipient of the Champion of Justice Award in 2011 from the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice and the Clarence Darrow Award from Mass Torts Made Perfect. The National Law Journal has also honored him as an Elite Trial Lawyer. Additionally, he has been peer-review rated AV Preeminent* through Martindale-Hubbell and has been rated “Good” on Avvo.
