Peter M. Canty

Peter M. Canty is a partner at Ingram Yuzek Gainen Carroll & Bertolotti, LLP, located in New York City. Focusing his practice on construction litigation and transactions, his clients include general contractors, project developers, residential and commercial property owners, architects, engineers, and construction managers. Mr. Canty has extensive experience in a variety of related matters, including the negotiation and preparation of contracts, breach of contract litigation, post-construction property damage claims, and errors and omissions litigation involving architects and engineers.

Mr. Canty attended Boston College as an undergraduate, majoring in English and obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 2001. After receiving a Master of Arts in Irish studies from The Catholic University of America in 2004, he pursued his legal education at Brooklyn Law School and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2008. While in law school, he interned with a Brooklyn law firm that he subsequently joined as an associate after he graduated. Mr. Canty then spent more than three years as an associate at a New York City firm, where he gained significant experience in construction accident and property damage litigation. Admitted to practice before all New York state courts since 2009, Mr. Canty has been a partner at Ingram Yuzek Gainen Carroll & Bertolotti, LLP, since October 2017.

In order to stay abreast of current developments in his field of practice and to forge connections with fellow attorneys, Mr. Canty is an active participant in several professional organizations. His memberships include the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
