Russell Ragland

Russell began his legal career in 1995 with the Nationally-renowned Texas law firm Baron & Budd (formerly Silber.Pearlman), representing workers and their families throughout the United States who suffered injury or serious illness from exposure to toxic substances and dangerous products in the workplace.

Relocating to New York in 2000, Russell continued representing injured and terminally-ill plaintiffs while working with Weitz & Luxenberg. He was integral to the litigation and trial of Croteau v. Consolidated Edison Company, representing a man suffering from mesothelioma, which resulted in a $47 million jury verdict against two public utilities in 2003.

Russell expanded his practice beyond toxic torts in 2005, while working with legendary trial attorney Ben Morelli, to include a wider variety of personal injury matters. In 2017, he opened the Law Office of G. Russell Ragland.

He has conducted jury trials in every borough of New York City, as well as Westchester, Orange, Suffolk, and Nassau Counties, and the Southern and Eastern District Federal courts of New York.

Russell has obtained verdicts and settlements for his clients totaling in excess of $30 million. Significant trial verdicts include $2.75 million for a worker who suffered a fall from a scaffold, $3.25 million for a worker whose hand was caught in a pressing machine, $950,000 for a pedestrian struck while lawfully in a crosswalk, and $1.25 million for a driver struck when a commercial vehicle ran a red light.

In March 2023, a $4.5 million settlement was obtained in a heat exposure-related death of a construction worker. In December 2024, a $4.9 million settlement was secured for a union bridge painter who fell 20 feet through an unprotected opening due to a lack of fall protection.

His areas of specialty include products liability, labor law, premises liability, motor vehicle, medical malpractice, and general negligence.
