As a principal attorney at Tyre & DeThomas, P.C., Frances A. DeThomas is dedicated to serving clients in Westchester County and the greater New York City area. She focuses her practice of law in the areas of matrimonial and family law. She accepts a wide variety of cases, including spousal maintenance, equitable distribution of marital assets, child custody and child support, collaborative divorce, wills and estates, and real estate matters.
Ms. DeThomas graduated with her Juris Doctor from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in 1999. After law school, she joined The Law Office of Margaret H. Tyre. She has served in the Westchester County Supreme Court as an appointed special referee in foreclosure actions. She is a certified mediator, receiving a Certificate from the Center for Mediation & Training in New York and she is a collaborative divorce attorney.
With more than 18 years of experience in the legal field, Ms. DeThomas dedicates her practice to both litigation and collaborative practice. She is admitted to practice law in the state of New York and Connecticut. Recognized for her excellent legal skills and ethics, Ms. DeThomas enjoys a 10.0 “Superb” Avvo rating from her peers.
Volunteering her legal skills to the local community in greater Westchester, Ms. DeThomas is an Executive Committee member of the Rye YMCA. She was previously the president of the Rye Rotary Club and was awarded the Paul Harris Award from Rotary International in 2012. She was a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the Westchester County Bar Association and a member of the Westchester Women’s Bar Association and New York State Bar Association. She formerly served the Westchester Women’s Bar Association as Vice President, state director and co-chair of the Matrimonial Committee. She is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
