Frances A. DeThomas

She holds a certification in mediation from the Center for Mediation & Training in New York and is also a skilled collaborative divorce attorney.

With more than 23 years of experience in the legal field, Ms. DeThomas dedicates her practice to litigation and collaborative approaches. She is admitted to practice law in the state of New York and the United States Supreme Court Bar. Ms. DeThomas graduated with her Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law at Pace University in 1999. After law school, she joined The Law Office of Margaret H. Tyre. She has served in the Westchester County Supreme Court as an appointed special referee in foreclosure actions. Recognized for her excellent legal skills and ethics, she enjoys a 10.0 “Superb” Avvo rating from her peers.

Volunteering her legal services to the local community in Westchester County, Ms. DeThomas is a Past President of the Rye YMCA and a current Trustee of the Rye YMCA. She is a recipient of the 2023 Rye YMCA Gold Spirit Award. She was previously the president of the Rye Rotary Club and was awarded the Paul Harris Award from Rotary International in 2012. She was a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the Westchester County Bar Association and is a current member of the Westchester County Bar Association, Westchester Women’s Bar Association and New York State Bar Association.

Notably, Ms. DeThomas formerly served the Westchester Women’s Bar Association as vice president, state director and co-chair of the Matrimonial Committee. She is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
