Catherine M. Fafone

Family law attorney Catherine M. Fafone works at the Rochester, New York, office of the Duke Law Firm, P.C., which has another office location in Lakeville, New York. Ms. Fafone serves clients across upstate New York, assisting them in legal matters involving:

• Contested and litigated divorce
• Complex asset division
• Child support and spousal support
• Child custody

Ms. Fafone obtained her bachelor’s degree cum laude in psychology with a minor in legal studies from St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York. She then decided to pursue her legal studies and joined the Syracuse University College of Law, where she was a dean’s list student. She also contributed more than 100 hours to pro bono activities, earning the Pro Bono and Community Recognition award. 

Graduating from law school in 2017, Ms. Fafone passed the bar exam and was admitted to legal practice in 2018, across all the state courts of New York. During law school, she interned at The Legal Aid Society of Rochester and the New York State Court of Claims. She also served as an extern at the office of the New York State Attorney General. 

Post graduation, Ms. Fafone continued to work at The Legal Aid Society of Rochester’s Family Law Unit as a staff attorney, gaining extensive experience advocating for individuals in the supreme and family courts. During her time there, she worked with domestic abuse survivors, child custody cases and order of protection cases. This ignited her passion for the field of family law, which continues to burn bright to this day.

Gaining the respect of her peers and clients over the course of her legal career, Ms. Fafone is an accomplished litigator well-known for her legal research and public speaking skills. She strives to reach a resolution for each case she handles using creative thinking and strategic approaches tailored to suit her clients’ individual circumstances.
