Sylvia Goldschmidt

Sylvia Goldschmidt is a partner at Abrams Fensterman, LLP, in White Plains, New York, where she brings nearly four decades of experience guiding clients through complex matrimonial and family law matters. A lifelong advocate for families, she combines deep legal experience with a thoughtful, client-centered approach, helping individuals navigate sensitive issues with clarity and confidence.

Ms. Goldschmidt earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo, received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and completed an LL.M. in Taxation at New York University School of Law. This strong academic foundation has supported her extensive practice in family law, where she regularly handles high-stakes divorce proceedings, complex property divisions, child custody and support disputes, as well as the drafting and negotiation of separation agreements, prenuptial agreements, and settlement agreements.

Ms. Goldschmidt’s practice also extends to international family law, including cross-border custody disputes, enforcement of foreign divorce decrees and international prenuptial agreements. Trained in collaborative law and mediation, she seeks solutions that reflect both the legal and personal needs of her clients. She primarily serves clients in Westchester and Rockland counties, often addressing cases with intricate financial or custody issues that require sophisticated legal strategy.

In addition to her practice, Ms. Goldschmidt is deeply committed to legal education. She has been a faculty member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Law Institute for Associates for over 15 years, lectured at conferences on advanced child custody matters and trained professionals through programs, including the AICPA Expert Witness Workshops and various bar association events.
