He is also a founding member of the firm, which has offices in New York and Florida, extending his practice across the United States.
Mr. Simpson takes on cases involving copyright, trade secret and unfair competition for individuals and corporates. He also provides counseling for his clients and prepares domestic and international patent and trademark applications.
Since the inception of his law career, Mr. Simpson has gained experience in handling various proceedings regarding opposition and cancellation, ex parte appeals, reexamination, and reissue. He prepares applications for technical art, including electrical, electronic, mechanical and other areas. He has also imparted time as a co-counsel in patent and trademark litigation.
Concentrating on software and business method patent applications, Mr. Simpson lends time to speaking about the patentability of such innovations. He is admitted to practice in New York and Florida, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York. He holds memberships in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Intellectual Property Law Committee of the Bar Association of Erie County. He was also the former president of the Niagara Frontier Intellectual Property Law Association.
An electrical engineering graduate, Mr. Simpson obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law. He is board-certified in intellectual property by The Florida Bar. He currently works as an adjunct professor at his alma mater and Hilbert College, teaching topics on intellectual property law and patent law.
