Jim (James C.) White

Jim White handles high-stakes commercial disputes where financial sophistication meets trial preparation. Before law school, Jim worked as a research analyst at McKinsey & Company—experience he now applies to untangling complex fraud, intellectual property, and financial disputes.

Jim has built a reputation for taking cases others find too complicated: matters where someone has clearly been wronged but the legal path forward isn't obvious. His approach combines management consulting rigor with a willingness to prepare every case for trial. He is a Board Certified Specialist in Business Bankruptcy Law, a credential that gives him particular depth in disputes involving distressed companies, contested transactions, and financial institution litigation.

Jim leads JC White Law Group, a Chambers-ranked boutique firm in Chapel Hill whose trial lawyers include a former North Carolina Business Court judge, former Big Law attorneys, and a former assistant US Attorney. He holds a J.D. and an M.A. in public policy from Duke University.
