Anthony G. Scheer

Tony Scheer is a trial lawyer and partner in the Charlotte-based law firm of Rawls, Scheer, Clary & Mingo.  He has practiced criminal law for over 25 years.  He represents clients in State and Federal courts in Charlotte, throughout North Carolina, and elsewhere around the U.S.. 

Mr. Scheer started his career working for a Federal judge in Virginia, and came to Charlotte in 1993 to take a job as an Assistant District Attorney.  He has been a criminal defense lawyer since 1997, and his practice is exclusively major felonies in State and Federal courts.  He represents people accused of violent crimes such as murder, rape, and robberies, as well as white collar financial crimes, grand jury investigations, and cybercrime. He has tried over 50 felony cases to jury verdicts.  He has also handled a number high-profile cases -  representing elected officials, athletes, and prominent business leaders.

Mr. Scheer is one of only a few lawyers in North Carolina with real experience representing people who want to blow the whistle against those who steal from the Government.  Since 2003, he has filed cases which have led to the Government recovering over $20 million and substantial rewards for his clients.  His experience on both sides of these issues (representing defendants and whistleblowers) gives him a unique ability to execute winning strategies for his clients.
