Lindsey Houk

Lindsey Houk, a skilled family law practitioner with a decade of experience in North Carolina, currently holds a partnership position at Waple & Houk, PLLC, in Charlotte. She focuses on a range of family law concerns such as divorce, child custody/visitation, child support, pre- and postnuptial agreements and separation contracts. 

Ms. Houk’s utmost priority lies in defending her clients' rights; however, she places a practical approach at the core of her advocacy. She strives to resolve family disputes out of court but understands that this is not always possible. As such, she collaborates with her clients on a personal level to comprehend their individual needs and suggests alternatives to litigation whenever applicable. When litigation is, however, essential, she takes the initiative to prepare and implement a comprehensive strategy that affirms her client's interests.

Born in North Carolina and raised in Denver, Ms. Houk obtained her B.A. from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2007 before earning her law degree from Charlotte School of Law in 2010. During her time in law school, she dedicated herself to the Self-Serve Clinic for Pro Bono and developed a passionate interest in family law.

However, Ms. Houk's initial foray into her legal career saw her join a North Carolina-based boutique law firm, where she focused on real estate matters. Her work involved foreclosure procedures, real estate title disputes and bankruptcy proceedings. She was also responsible for advocating on behalf of lenders' rights in contested hearings across the state, which saw her frequently travel to represent her clients' interests.

With an impressive array of accolades to her name, it's clear that Ms. Houk is at the top of her game in the legal industry. She has been included in the Legal Elite - Business North Carolina for four consecutive years from 2016 to 2019. In addition, she has been enlisted in the Worldwide Who's Who Among the Professional Elite – a true testament to her global reputation.

Ms. Houk’s impressive credentials don't end there. She is also highly respected within her local community, being a member of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and Mecklenburg County Bar Associations, as well as the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys and the Charlotte Women's Bar. She is also a guardian ad litem volunteer attorney, demonstrating her dedication to helping others in need.
