Tiffany Byrd

Tiffany Byrd is a dedicated family law and estate planning attorney at Modern Legal located in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina. With a deep understanding of the emotional and legal complexities families face, she guides clients through critical life transitions with empathy, strength and skill.

Ms. Byrd’s passion for helping others began early. As the eldest child of a single-parent, divorced household, she witnessed firsthand the impact that legal and emotional support can have on a family’s future. This experience shaped her lifelong commitment to advocacy and community care.

After earning her undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University, Ms. Byrd enrolled in the University of South Carolina’s dual J.D./MSW program. She became the first graduate of the joint-degree track in over 15 years and helped shape more flexible paths for future students. A former collegiate gymnast, she brings discipline, resilience and focus to everything she does.

As a family law attorney, Ms. Byrd represents clients navigating divorce, custody, adoption and estate planning matters. She uses her combined legal and social work experience to develop thoughtful, client-centered strategies that address both the practical and emotional dimensions of each case.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Byrd worked closely with survivors of abuse, where she saw how law and justice directly influence the safety and future of families. That clarity reaffirmed her childhood dream of becoming a lawyer – and she’s never looked back.

Ms. Byrd is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the South Carolina State Bar, the Mecklenburg Bar Association’s Family Law Section and the Pauli Murray LGBTQ Bar Association. According to her, practicing law is more than a career; it’s a calling to protect, empower and uplift families through every chapter of life.
