Christine F. Mayhew

A partner at the law firm of Oak City Law LLP in Durham, North Carolina, Christine F. Mayhew focuses her practice on litigating employment law matters. She is licensed to practice in North Carolina and South Carolina and represents both employees and employers. 

With more than two decades of legal experience, Ms. Mayhew has represented clients in regard to federal and state employment laws, including the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Retaliatory Employment Discrimination Act, the North Carolina Wage and Hour Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. She has experience in both state and federal court and in taking on cases before the U.S. Department of Labor, the North Carolina Department of Labor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. 

In addition, Ms. Mayhew advises clients regarding contracts such as noncompete agreements, employment and severance agreements, and confidentiality agreements. She also uses alternative dispute resolution methods, including arbitration and mediation.  Ms. Mayhew has some specific experience representing public school teachers and health care professionals.

Ms. Mayhew graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University in South Carolina and earned her Bachelor of Arts in English in 1997. Later she joined the University of South Carolina School of Law to pursue her legal studies and received her doctorate in jurisprudence cum laude in 2000.
