Carolyn Woodruff is a family law attorney in Greensboro, North Carolina, with more than 25 years of experience. She is CEO of Woodruff Family Law Group, and handles all types of family law matters, including divorce, alimony, child custody, child support, electronic media issues, equitable distribution, grandparents’ rights, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, qualified domestic relations orders, spousal support, appeals and more. She represents clients in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, and throughout the Piedmont Triad area.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Woodruff has tried and settled many complex family law cases. She is experienced in litigation and collaborative divorce methods such as mediation. She is listed in the publication “The Best Lawyers in America,” and the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys named her to their “10 Best Female Attorneys” list.

Ms. Woodruff is certified as a family law specialist by the North Carolina State Bar Legal Specialization. She has been certified as a public accountant by the North Carolina State Board of Certified Public Accountant Examiners. She is also certified as a valuation analyst by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. She was the first North Carolina female fellow in the distinguished American College of Tax Counsel.

In addition to her practice, Ms. Woodruff serves as chair of the Domestic Relations Tax Committee for the American Bar Association’s Section of Taxation. She is the author of two continuing education textbooks on divorce and business valuation principles, and recently co-authored a book titled “Essential Guide to Your Family Law Case”. Ms. Woodruff frequently speaks for legal education programs and organizations and hosts webinars on legal topics.

She serves on the public board of Blue Ridge Bankshares, Inc. (BRBS)(NYSE). She is chair of the Audit Committee and serves on the FinTech and Wealth Management Committees. She holds a FinTech certification from Harvard Business School. She holds AICPA badges in Blockchain and Cybersecurity. She is a frequent speaker on FinTech and spoke before the North Carolina Banking Commission on “Fintech and Regulatory Sandboxes” in January 2022. She also spoke on “Fintech and Innovation” to the Wake Forest University School of Law students in the State and Local Government course in October 2022.

Through the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), Carolyn has been a speaker and trailblazer in continuing education for CPAs who need knowledge of taxation related to divorce and business valuation in divorce in North Carolina. She recently presented on the topic “FinTech and Innovation” in November 2022 at the 83rd Annual Symposium and in November 2021, presented on the topic “Demystifying FinTech” at the 82nd Annual Symposium.

Ms. Woodruff graduated with high honors from Duke University School of Law, where she served as research editor and managing editor of the Duke Law Journal. She holds a license to practice law before all North Carolina state courts and is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and The District Bar of the 18th Judicial District of North Carolina family law section.
