Bonnie F. Pierce

Bonnie Pierce’s introduction to the legal world began in 1993 following the tragic death of her teenage son in a truck crash. Attorney Pierce’s personal tragedy was the spearhead behind the pursuit of her career in law and remains the driving force behind every truck crash she investigates.

Pierce is a dedicated victim’s advocate and promoter of highway safety. She has traveled to Washington D.C. where she testified before lawmakers on the rules governing the hours of service, the need to keep rest areas open, and for tougher laws and stricter enforcement. Pierce began her advocacy work in 1994 as a point of contact in North Carolin for Parents Against Tired Truckers (P.A.T.T.), a grassroots organization made up of families of other truck crash victims which has since united with Citizens for Safe and Reliable Highways (CRASH) to form the Truck Safety Coalition (TSC) which serves as a strong, grassroots, safety advocacy group. Pierce now works with the Institute for Safer Trucking (IST) a nonprofit organization that works hard to raise awareness about truck safety issues, offering support to families impacted by truck crashes, and is committed to making trucking safer across the United States.

Education: Pierce is a 2009 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and a 2015 graduate of NCCU School of Law. While attending school, Pierce continued working as a truck crash investigator and senior litigation paralegal. Between 2000 and 2003, Attorney Pierce earned certifications in Intermediate and Advanced Traffic Accident Investigation, Hours of Service/Auditing Driver’s Logs, CVSA Inspection Familiarization, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Professional Associations: She is an active member of the Truck Safety Coalition, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), The American Association of Justice, Trucking Litigation Group, the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, and North Carolina Advocates for Justice; her primary focus and passion is trucking litigation, motorcycle, and motor vehicle collisions involving driving while impaired and other distracted driving cases.
