Attorney Profile

Since 1998, Susan M. O'Malley has been a partner at O'Malley Tunstall PLLC. With offices in both Raleigh and Tarboro, she divides her practice among Social Security Disability, workers' compensation, and personal injury and wrongful death litigation, providing astute representation to people throughout eastern North Carolina. Admitted to practice in North Carolina and the District of Columbia, Ms. O'Malley is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.

Certified as a specialist in Social Security Disability law by the North Carolina State Bar, Ms. O'Malley has successfully represented people who are no longer able to work and who are seeking their rightful benefits from the Social Security Administration. Mindful that most claims are initially denied, she has been able to prevail on behalf of many of her clients at all stages of the appeals process. In other cases where her clients are temporarily unable to return to their jobs due to workplace injuries, Ms. O'Malley has helped them to obtain workers' compensation benefits under their employer's insurance coverage. Her experience also includes medical malpractice and other forms of negligence that have resulted in serious and sometimes fatal injuries.

Ms. O'Malley is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, receiving a Bachelor of Science cum laude in 1990. Her legal education came at the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, and she was a member of the Holderness Moot Court before being awarded her Juris Doctor in 1994. Ms. O'Malley's professional memberships include the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives.
