Joel C. Harbinson

Joel C. Harbinson is an accomplished trial lawyer with over 40 years of experience, functioning as a partner with Harbinson Parker, with offices in Taylorsville and Statesville, in North Carolina. He holds a prestigious peer-review rating of AV Preeminent* through Martindale-Hubbell and has established a reputation for handling high-stakes cases in various fields, including criminal law, traffic charges, family law, car accidents resulting in personal injuries, property damage or wrongful death; and medical malpractice.

Throughout his career, Mr. Harbinson has achieved notable accomplishments, such as securing injunctions against the North Carolina Hazardous Waste Management Commission and ESPN. He also obtained three "Not Guilty" verdicts in separate jury trials within a year, defending defendants wrongly accused of sexual offenses. Additionally, he successfully negotiated a $2 million settlement in a wrongful death car accident case and handled a medical malpractice case involving substantial damages. His service extends to both criminal and domestic trials, making him a rare professional in North Carolina. 

An alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mr. Harbinson completed his undergraduate degree as a Broyhill Industries Scholar and his doctorate in jurisprudence there, in 1977 and 1979 respectively. Licensed in North Carolina in 1979, he has been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina since 1982. 

In 2018, Lawyers Weekly acknowledged Mr. Harbinson as one among the list of Leaders in the Law. The North Carolina Bar Association recognized him with a Citizen Lawyer Award in 2019 for his dedicated public service in the community. Furthermore, Governor Roy Cooper bestowed upon him the highest honor awarded by the State of North Carolina, inducting him into The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Society in 2019.
