Albert S. Thomas, Jr.

Albert S. Thomas Jr. is an attorney in Wilson, North Carolina, with over 45 years of legal experience. He is a partner at Farris & Thomas Law and handles cases involving appellate law, mediation, workers’ compensation and major civil disputes. He represents clients in Wilson and the surrounding areas.

Mr. Thomas graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor's degree in journalism, before going on to earn his law degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. He holds a license to practice law before all North Carolina state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Prior to joining Farris & Thomas Law, Mr. Thomas served as a judge on the North Carolina Court of Appeals and on the district court bench, and was the chief district court judge for Judicial District 7.

Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Thomas has served in numerous leadership positions for many legal and community organizations. He served on the Governor's Crime Commission, the North Carolina Sentencing Commission, and the Governor's Juvenile Code Revision Committee.  He is a valuable contributor to his community as well, continuing to serve on the board of directors of the Foundation YMCA of Wilson as president and on the Arts Council Endowment Committee.  Among other organizations, he served on the 4-H and Youth Committee and on the boards of the Wilson Chamber of Commerce and Wilson County Habitat for Humanity.  He is a founding member of Y.O.U.T.H. of Wilson County and Wilson Families in Action.

Additionally, Mr. Thomas serves as an adjunct instructor at Barton College, teaching Constitutional Law and criminal law, and is a former instructor at North Carolina Wesleyan College and at Juvenile Court Training for district court judges. He wrote and directed a script for the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts' juvenile law training film.
