Christopher Nyhus

Christopher “Chris” J. Nyhus  is the owner of Nyhus Law Firm. His firm’s main office is in Bismarck, North Dakota, and he serves clients across the state from his Harvey, North Dakota, office. He focuses his practice on the following:

• Real estate law: Purchase and sales, landlord-tenant law, zoning issues and registered agent services
• Business and commercial law
• Municipal law
• Estate planning: Trusts and wills, powers of attorney, guardianship and conservatorship

A cum laude graduate of the University of Jamestown, Mr. Nyhus completed his bachelor’s degree with a dual major in business administration and history/political science. He received his Juris Doctor with a focus on commercial law from Hamline University School of Law in 2006. 

A skilled and steadfast trial attorney, Mr. Nyhus has extensive experience engaging in trials and handling business-related litigations. He learned valuable courtroom lessons during his initial years as an assistant state attorney in Morton County. Later, he started practicing in a private firm where he gained hands-on experience from highly experienced professionals, which gave him the confidence and practical skills to start his firm in 2014.

Mr. Nyhus is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of North Dakota and also appears before the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians Tribal Court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of North Dakota. He is rated “Good” on Avvo.

Additionally, Mr. Nyhus has been teaching law in universities for the past decade, imparting the insights that he gained over the years coupled with his subject knowledge.
