R. J. Pathroff

R. J. Pathroff is the managing partner of Vogel Law Firm in Bismarck, North Dakota, where he advises businesses, developers, contractors and property owners on a broad range of complex commercial and regulatory matters. His practice focuses on construction litigation, business law, business litigation, real estate, energy and natural resources, environmental law, water law, land use, and insurance law and litigation.

Mr. Pathroff represents clients throughout all stages of dispute resolution, providing strategic counsel on construction-related claims, commercial litigation, contract disputes and real estate matters. He also advises clients navigating regulatory and environmental issues affecting energy development, land use and natural resources. Drawing on extensive experience across multiple industries, he works with businesses to manage risk, resolve disputes efficiently and protect their long-term interests.

Mr. Pathroff earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2012. During law school, he was a member of the SMU Law Review and the National Moot Court Team, experiences that strengthened his legal research, writing and advocacy skills. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Duke University in 2009.

Admitted to practice in North Dakota, Texas and South Dakota, Mr. Pathroff serves clients across the region in both litigation and transactional matters. He remains actively involved in the legal profession through membership in several organizations, including the State Bar Association of North Dakota, the State Bar of Texas, The Big Muddy Bar Association, the American Bar Association's Forum on Construction Law and the Judge Bruce M. Van Sickle American Inn of Court. 

Mr. Pathroff is also a member of Associated Builders and Contractors, reflecting his ongoing engagement with the construction industry and its evolving legal landscape. He provides practical, results-oriented legal counsel to clients facing complex business, construction and regulatory challenges.
