Details

A compassionate and friendly family law attorney who can also be a determined advocate for clients and their children, Bonnie P. Humphrey is the founder of Humphrey Law Office, P. C. Her firm is located in Minot, North Dakota, and she accepts clients throughout North Dakota as well as Minnesota. For three decades, she has been helping families navigate complex legal issues such as:

  • Divorce/legal separation
  • Child support and parenting time
  • Juvenile law and children’s issues
  • Post-judgment enforcement and modifications
  • Adoptions and termination of parental rights
  • Domestic violence and restraining orders
  • Spousal maintenance
  • Grandparents’ rights
  • Guardianship of adults

After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications, Ms. Humphrey pursued her Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts at Minnesota State University. In 1992, she received her Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She is admitted to practice in the state courts of Minnesota and North Dakota as well as the federal courts of North Dakota.

With a certification in mediation, Ms. Humphrey understands that mediation can benefit clients facing legal concerns in many ways. She guides conversations and helps both parties come to an agreement that serves children in the most productive way possible when they are in tough situations. In the mediation process, she serves as a neutral, carefully balancing the needs of everyone involved.

Ms. Humphrey first served as a child support attorney at the Regional Child Support Enforcement Unit. She also served the public in her position at Legal Services of North Dakota as a staff attorney.  After that, she went into private practice, focusing her efforts on family law but also matters in other areas.

She was awarded the Pro Bono Award by the State Bar Association of North Dakota while in private practice, and the Outstanding Individual Achievement Award by the North Dakota Family Support Council during her service to the child support program.

Involved in her community, Ms. Humphrey is the former secretary of the Ward County Bar Association and a past president of the State Bar Association of North Dakota's Family Law Section. She is a member of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, the Minnesota State Bar Association, the North Dakota Collaborative Law group and a former member of the Big Muddy Bar Association and the Hague Convention Attorney Network.
