Additionally, he authored an e-book titled “Should I Challenge My Inheritance?” in an effort to educate the general public about concepts of financial exploitation of the elderly and the subject of undue influence in wills, trusts, and beneficiary designations.  Mr.  Fried has also lectured on various and important topics in the field of estates and trusts, having been invited to speak to esteemed groups including the National College of Probate Judges, The Ohio College of Probate Judges, The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and The American Academy of Forensic Psychiatrists and the Law, to name a few on topics ranging from legal and medical issues in undue influence cases, construction cases in matters involving ambiguities in wills and trusts, evidence in probate matters, and removal of trustees and executors.

Mr. Fried was elected a Fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) in 2015, recognizing his contributions to trust and estate law. Locally, he has also served on task forces and committees focused on preventing elder abuse and improving adult protective services.

  • Jun 12, 2020, Motion for Directed Verdict 8th Appellate Dist Represented an individual Defendant in defense of a will contest. The case was originally dismissed on a motion for summary judgment, then remanded for trial. At the conclusion of Plaintiffs’ case in chief to the Jury, we along with the other defense team members, successfully won a motion for directed. This appeal addressed significant evidentiary issues and, in the process, affirmed the trial court., 2020
  • Gregory Thompson, Guardian, v. Paul Radis, et al (Cuyahoga County Probate Court case #2007 adv 129205 - Obtained an order voiding a deed to real estate obtained by reason of undue influence and incapacity. Rooney v. Rooney, trustee, (Cuyahoga County Probate Court), 2009 adv 153365 - obtained order removing the trustee of an inter vivos trust on the grounds of breach of fiduciary duty. Franklin v. Franklin, (Cuyahoga County Probate Court) 2005 adv 107892 - defeated a claim brought by beneficiary for removal of co-trustees. After trial, the court ruled that the trustees properly carried out their fiduciary obligations and the court refused to remove them from office., 2009
