Gus J. Lazares

Gus J. Lazares is an attorney at Rittgers Rittgers & Nakajima in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he represents individuals and families in a wide range of complex personal injury matters. His practice focuses on cases involving automobile, motorcycle and trucking accidents, as well as pedestrian injuries, nursing home litigation and premises liability. He also handles claims related to medical malpractice, traumatic brain injuries, construction accidents and wrongful death, advocating for clients facing serious and often life-altering circumstances.

Mr. Lazares earned his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 2014. During law school, he distinguished himself as a top advocate, receiving the George A. Spiegelberg Award for the nation’s top oral advocate, presented by the American College of Trial Lawyers. He also earned multiple CALI Excellence for the Future Award for achieving the highest grades in courses including depositions, pretrial litigation, appellate advocacy, and lawyers and the media. Additionally, he served as an extern to the Honorable Judge Walter Rice of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

With over a decade of experience, Mr. Lazares is known for his thorough approach to litigation and his ability to uncover critical evidence that strengthens his clients’ cases. In one notable wrongful death matter, he successfully compelled the production of internal emails showing that a company knowingly overmedicated his client before abandoning him. This key discovery significantly increased the value of the case by more than $10 million.

Mr. Lazares completed his undergraduate studies at Miami University, where he was recognized as an All-American Mock Trial Attorney by the American Mock Trial Association and named a Harrison Scholar. He is a member of the Ohio Association for Justice and the Cincinnati Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Ohio, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.
