A highly regarded civil trial attorney, John H. Phillips is the founder of the Phillips Law Firm. Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, he provides representation to individual and business clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. Admitted to practice before all Ohio and Minnesota state courts, Mr. Phillips is also admitted to practice before several federal trial and appellate courts.
Mr. Phillips devotes a significant portion of his practice to business litigation. The types of cases that he has handled in this regard have included trade secret misappropriation, contract breaches, partner and shareholder actions, and purchase and sale disputes. Mr. Phillips also has extensive personal injury and wrongful death litigation experience, representing people who have been harmed by the negligence of other parties in incidents involving motor vehicle accidents, and his trial experience has also encompassed landlord-tenant disputes, breach of fiduciary duties and other probate litigation, construction law, bad faith and other insurance claims, environmental issues, and legal malpractice. The high quality of his work in all of these areas has earned him a great deal of recognition from his colleagues, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo.
Mr. Phillips is frequently asked to deliver presentations on topics related to his practice area at continuing legal education seminars and before other groups. A 1982 recipient of a Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering from the University of Cincinnati, he also holds a Master of Science in engineering from the same institution. Mr. Phillips obtained his legal education at what was then known as William Mitchell College of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1989. After he graduated, he spent several years practicing environmental law and litigation with a national law firm before founding the Phillips Law Firm.
