Rebecca Zemmelman

A family law attorney and partner at Essig & Evans LLP in Cincinnati, Ohio, Rebecca Zemmelman has been serving the people of the greater Cincinnati area through the firm since 2017. As an associate attorney turned partner at the firm, she has played a pivotal role throughout the years in several decisions and assists her clients with matters involving dissolution of marriage, divorce, child support and custody, spousal support and adoption. 

Ms. Zemmelman obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2016, and earlier, in 2013, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University. At both institutions, not only did she devote her time to academics, but also involved herself in various associations and held leadership positions there. At the law school, she was the program chair of the university’s Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and president of the American Constitution Society. During her time at Miami University, she served as the president of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and contributed as a writer for the university’s journal, The Miami Student.

Not only is Ms. Zemmelman known for her courtroom skills, but she is also well-versed in mediation and collaborative law. Being extensively knowledgeable in alternative dispute methods, she acts as a mediator in many issues involving family law and strives to resolve them through negotiation before presenting the case before the bench. Keeping her clients’ best interests in mind, she at times acts as guardian ad litem to protect the rights and look after a child in a custody or during visitation times. She is rated “Superb” on Avvo. 

Currently a secretary of the Cincinnati Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Ms. Zemmelman is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the International Academy of Collaborative Lawyers and the American Constitution Society.
