Bob Steinberg provides professional arbitration services, professional mediation services, expert witness services in attorney fee disputes, settlement administration for complex litigation, employer consultations and investigations of employment disputes, and legal representation in selected civil litigations, including employment discrimination and personal injury. He has been retained by large organizations to conduct internal investigations of complaints against management, such as sexual harassment and discrimination. He is an experienced former federal magistrate judge (18 years) and federal prosecutor (10 years) who engaged in complex civil litigation throughout the country as a private law firm practitioner for sixteen years before forming his own law firm in 2012.
Mr. Steinberg has conducted hundreds of professional mediations as a judge and as a private attorney. He has been retained by parties as an American Arbitration Association arbitrator in complex commercial disputes. He established a record of resolving legal disputes with extraordinary efficiency. As a mediator, he is able to bridge the gap between the parties by creating imaginative and satisfying solutions, eliminating the risk of losing the case and the anxiety and business interruption associated with ongoing litigation.
As an expert witness in attorney fee disputes, Mr. Steinberg has a wealth of experience in both determining reasonable attorneys fees as a judge in the federal court and in testifying as an expert in support of, or challenging, attorney fee applications in state and federal court. He is retained by both plaintiffs and defendants.
As an independent consultant and investigator, Mr. Steinberg has conducted investigations and provided detailed reports to boards of directors of organizations regarding matters such as sexual harassment and employment discrimination complaints.
Mr. Steinberg has been lead trial counsel in over 200 civil trials and appeals. He currently accepts a limited number of litigation matters, including class action defense, employment disputes, personal injury matters, and labor-management matters. Mr. Steinberg was Chair of the Federal Courts Practice Committee for the Ohio State Bar Association for 2014-2016. He chaired the Committee's presentation to the OSBA Annual Convention in 2014 and 2015. He is a Master of the Bench of the Potter Stewart Chapter of American Inns of Court and convenor and co-convenor of numerous presentations for decades. During recent years, he has presented programs regarding constitutional law, arbitration, mediation, attorneys fees and the Initial Discovery Protocols for Employment Cases.
