- What "Peer Review Rated" RepresentsWhen a lawyer achieves Peer Review Rated status, he or she has earned an additional level of validation for the professional skills and high ethical standards displayed through actions and work product. The designation reflects the confidential opinions of both rated and non-rated peers from the lawyer's Bar and/or area of legal practice. How is a Rated Status Achieved?Reviews occur in stages over the course of a lawyer's career with the first review typically after a United States or Canadian lawyer has been admitted to a state or provincial bar for 10 years or more. Personal interviews are conduct by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell representatives, confidential questionnaires are distributed and, at times, lawyers under review may be asked to provide professional references to assist with the process.
