Bryan K. Penick

A shareholder in Sebaly Shillito + Dyer, Bryan K. Penick divides his practice primarily between criminal defense and family law cases, and he has extensive civil litigation experience as well. A large portion of Mr. Penick's criminal defense practice involves the representation of people who have been charged by the state with driving under the influence of alcohol. Some of the tactics that he has used to refute the allegations have included a challenge to the traffic stop itself as being made without the requisite reasonable suspicion on the part of the officer. In other cases, Mr. Penick may question whether the breath machine was properly calibrated. When the evidence is strong, he has in some cases negotiated favorable pleas agreements with the prosecution. Mr. Penick has provided defense strategies for other types of charges as well, including theft and drug possession offenses.

Mr. Penick's family law experience has encompassed assisting people who are going through a divorce and who are thus facing related issues like property division, parenting arrangements, and child and spousal support. Admitted to practice before all Ohio state courts, he received his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1999.
