John F. Kennel has concentrated his practice largely on bankruptcy matters for most of his legal career, and he continues to do so as a co-founding attorney of Kennel Ziegler LLC in Dayton, Ohio, representing clients throughout the region. Mr. Kennel became admitted to practice in Ohio in 2013, and he is additionally admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
As an undergraduate, Mr. Kennel attended Miami University on a Benjamin Harrison Scholarship, one that is granted to incoming freshman and that is renewable for the next three years. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology in 2007, he pursued his legal education at the University of Dayton School of Law, obtaining his Juris Doctor in 2011. Prior to founding Kennel Ziegler LLC, Mr. Kennel was associated with another Dayton-area law firm.

He explores with them the available alternatives for debt relief, which can often include filing for bankruptcy under either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13. Mr. Kennel also outlines the potential benefits of filing for bankruptcy and helps to counter the myths that some people hold regarding that form of relief. Many of Mr. Kennel’s clients are also homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments, and he provides them with defense representation against foreclosure proceedings. He stays abreast of current developments in his practice areas through his membership in several professional organizations, including the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the Thomas F. Waldon American Bankruptcy Law Forum.
