L. Frederick Sommer, III

L. Frederick Sommer III is a partner at the law firm of Horenstein, Nicholson & Blumenthal. He practices out of the firm’s office in Dayton, Ohio, and has more than two decades of experience. He focuses a significant portion of his practice on workers’ compensation and tirelessly advocates for the rights of injured workers after a workplace injury. He also handles cases related to personal injury and motor vehicle accidents.

Mr. Sommer attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1996. He then went to the Ohio Northern University and obtained his Juris Doctor in 1999. He was admitted to practice in Ohio the same year. He is also licensed to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

With a reputation for compassion and integrity, Mr. Sommer has been extremely successful in obtaining millions in compensation for his plaintiff clients who suffered needlessly as a result of someone else’s negligent or reckless actions. With extensive litigation experience, he has handled hundreds of court cases and thousands of hearings.

Active in his legal community, Mr. Sommer is a member of the Dayton Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Ohio Association for Justice. 

For his outstanding professionalism and successful track record, Mr. Sommer has received many awards and honors. The Lawyers of Distinction recognized him for his excellence in the practice of law, and the American Institute of Trial Lawyers named him as a Litigator of the Year in 2021.
