William P. Campbell, known to his clients and colleagues as Bill, is a seasoned personal injury attorney who has spent more than 30 years fighting for the rights of injury victims and their families throughout Ohio. Since joining Elk + Elk in 2010, Bill has been a cornerstone of the firm’s medical malpractice and nursing home negligence team. His approach to the law is built on a foundation of extensive trial experience and an unwavering "client-first" philosophy. Bill understands that when a family reaches out to him, they are often facing the most challenging period of their lives. He views his role not just as a legal representative, but as a dedicated guide and protector for those navigating the aftermath of a catastrophic event.
A Powerful Advocate for Victims of Negligence
With the firm’s experience supporting his practice, Bill utilizes a sophisticated formula for success. He often notes that the combination of his deep courtroom background and the phenomenal support staff and resources at the firm allows him to pursue justice with a level of intensity that few other practitioners can match. This high-resource environment is critical when taking on large medical institutions, nursing home corporations, and insurance companies that have nearly unlimited funds to defend their interests. Bill levels the playing field, ensuring that individual victims have a powerful voice in a system that can often feel indifferent to their suffering.
Applying Financial Literacy to Complex Litigation
Bill’s academic background provides him with a distinct competitive edge in complex litigation. Before earning his law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1993, he completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Bethany College in West Virginia. This financial literacy is invaluable in the realm of personal injury and wrongful death. It allows him to meticulously calculate economic damages, including the skyrocketing costs of long-term medical care, lost earning capacity, and the intricate financial impacts of a family member’s death. While other attorneys may rely solely on outside experts, Bill’s ability to personally deconstruct a financial ledger or a complex economic report means that no detail is overlooked in settlement negotiations or at trial.
Technical Expertise in Nursing Home and Medical Malpractice
Throughout his three decades in the legal field, Bill has focused his practice on the most sensitive and technical areas of civil law. He is a recognized advocate in cases of medical malpractice, where his ability to translate complicated medical procedures into clear narratives for a jury is essential. He also has a significant focus on nursing home abuse and neglect, holding facilities accountable when they fail to provide the dignity and care that our seniors deserve. His work in wrongful death and serious personal injury cases is marked by a reputation for compassion and tireless advocacy. He believes that clear communication is the key to a successful attorney-client relationship, ensuring that his clients are never left in the dark about the status of their case.
Recognized Leadership in National Legal Organizations
Bill’s professional standing is reflected in his active memberships in elite legal organizations. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the National Nursing Home Litigation Group. These affiliations keep him connected to the latest developments in nursing home regulations and medical standards, ensuring his strategies are always modern and effective. His peers consistently recognize his work, and he has maintained an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating for legal ability and ethical standards. Additionally, he has been a mainstay on the Ohio Super Lawyers list for over a decade, a distinction reserved for the top tier of attorneys in the state.
Dedicated Support for Families Across Ohio
At the heart of Bill’s work is a simple truth: personal attention matters. He finds his greatest professional satisfaction in the individual relationships he builds with his clients. He treats every family with the same level of care and respect he would want for his own loved ones. This empathy is likely rooted in his own devotion to his family. Outside the courtroom, Bill enjoys nothing more than spending time with his wife and their two daughters. Whether he is jogging or cycling through the scenic trails of Cuyahoga Valley National Park or supporting local community events.
