A member of Cook Demers, LLC, John P. Johnson II focuses his practice primarily on divorce and other family law matters. From the firm’s office in New Albany, Ohio, he provides representation to clients in the metropolitan region and throughout the state. He also has substantial experience handling employment law and criminal defense cases. Since he has been successful in these pursuits, he has received several accolades from his peers, including an AV Preeminent* rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a “Superb” rating from Avvo.
Well-prepared and reasonable, Mr. Johnson offers practical advice and counsel on such issues as property division, custody and visitation, and spousal and child support. In most cases, he can assist clients in reaching an amicable resolution with their ex-spouses about these issues via mediation or settlement agreement talks; nevertheless, if litigation becomes required, he is a powerful trial advocate on their side.
Mr. Johnson has also prepared and reviewed prenuptial and postmarital agreements and assisted divorced clients in executing or modifying parenting and support court judgments. He has also represented both companies and workers in employment law cases involving workplace discrimination, wage and hour violations, and wrongful termination. His criminal defense experience has included driving under the influence of alcohol, traffic violations and other state charges.
A 1986 Ohio Wesleyan University journalism graduate, Mr. Johnson received his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School in 1993. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He is a member of several legal and community organizations, including the Ohio State Bar Association, the Central Ohio Association for Justice and the Columbus Bar Association.
