The co-managing member of Nemeth & Perry, LLC, Richard H. Nemeth focuses his practice primarily on consumer and business bankruptcy matters.  He assists clients throughout Northeast Ohio from the firm’s offices in Westlake. He is admitted to practice before all Ohio state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.  Mr. Nemeth is the President of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA). 

As an undergraduate, Mr. Nemeth attended Case Western Reserve University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978. He then pursued his legal education at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1984. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Nemeth was general counsel of an oil and gas producer based in Cleveland.

A significant portion of Mr. Nemeth’s clients are businesses and people who have become overwhelmed by insurmountable financial obligations. He works with them to explore the types of relief that might be available to them, including under Chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, and he explains the various eligibility and other requirements of each. Mr. Nemeth also assists business owners and homeowners who are facing foreclosure, garnishment, asset seizures and other collection activity.   

Mr. Nemeth is a well-known national speaker and media consultant on topics related to bankruptcy law, and was instrumental in the passage of legislation that expanded the scope of assets that are exempt from bankruptcy liquidation under Ohio law. Held in high regard by his colleagues, he possesses an “Excellent” peer review rating through Avvo.
