He obtained his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2002, and he is admitted to practice before all Oklahoma state courts, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Oklahoma, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th and Federal Circuits, the U.S. Tax Court, and both the U.S. and Oklahoma Supreme Courts.

A recognized leader in his field, Mr. Bertman has served as chair and secretary of the Oklahoma Bar Association's Appellate Practice Section, and he is currently a master in the William J. Holloway, Jr., American Inn of Court. He is also an active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, as well as the Oklahoma County and Cleveland County bar associations. Furthermore, Mr. Bertman has served as attorney general for the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and Supreme Court Justice for the Delaware Nation of Oklahoma.
