Michelle K. Smith

A native of Oklahoma, Michelle K. Smith has dedicated her law practice to assisting clients in her home state with various types of family law cases. In 2011, she launched her boutique practice, Michelle K Smith, Attorney at Law, PLLC, in Oklahoma City, where she focuses on family law and serves Oklahoma residents through difficult legal situations. Her areas of practice include contested and uncontested divorce, paternity, alimony, contempt, child support, and child custody and visitation.

Understanding her clients’ unique circumstances, Ms. Smith counsels them on options to navigate the legal landscape. With her negotiation skills, she helps her divorcing clients regain financial footing and move on with their lives. A sharp thinker and a fierce advocate for her clients in the courtroom, she always treats them with respect. She also acts as counsel in mediation proceedings.

In 1987, Ms. Smith graduated from The University of Oklahoma, receiving her undergraduate degree in business administration with an emphasis on accounting. She completed her Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 2007 at Oklahoma City University School of Law. She won CALI Excellence for the Future Award because she consistently ranked at the top of her class in many subjects. During her three years in law school, she maintained a spot on the dean’s list.

Upon admission to the Oklahoma Bar Association in 2007, Ms. Smith worked as an associate attorney for an Oklahoma City family law firm until 2010. She served as the chair of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Family Law Section for 2015 and the chair of the organization’s Continuing Legal Education Department for 2014 and the co-chair of the Oklahoma County Bar Association’s Family Law Section for 2011 and 2012.

Ms. Smith was a professor for the Barbri Bar Review’s family law course in 2014. She was a founding member and attorney mentor for the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section’s Trial Advocacy Institute in 2014, 2015 and 2016. An Avvo “Superb” rated attorney, she has been listed in the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys’ Top 10 Under 40. Oklahoma Bar Association’s Family Law Section awarded her the Guardian Ad Litem of The Year honor in 2016.
