For more than 40 years, Philip O. Watts has stood among Oklahoma's most respected civil trial lawyers, a reputation built not through self-promotion but through the quiet, cumulative weight of results. As founding partner of Watts & Watts, PC, in Oklahoma City, he has spent his career taking on cases that other attorneys were reluctant to touch and winning verdicts that few believed possible. His record within the Oklahoma State Courts Network tells that story plainly, chronicling decades of hard-fought litigation across business disputes, personal injury, wrongful death, insurance bad faith and complex class actions.
Mr. Watts's path into the law began at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where his early promise was evident: he was named winner of the National Appellate Advocacy Program, a distinction that foreshadowed the appellate skill he would later bring to bear on behalf of his clients. Licensed to practice in Oklahoma in 1984, his credentials soon extended well beyond state lines. He was admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, and he has since been granted pro hac vice admission in Texas, North Carolina, Kansas, Michigan and Florida, a testament to a practice whose reach has long outgrown any single jurisdiction.
Central to Mr. Watts's approach is an unwavering commitment to client care. He approaches every matter, however complex, with the same measured confidence and thoroughness, never allowing the difficulty of a case to diminish the quality of his advocacy. That consistency has earned him an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell for 25 consecutive years.
